    About Skyler Wisse

Skyler Wisse is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, recording artist, and experienced music instructor who teaches guitar, ukulele, and electric bass. With approximately six years of teaching experience, Skyler brings a creative, personalized approach to every lesson, helping students develop strong musical foundations while pursuing the styles, songs, and goals that inspire them.

Skyler has particular strengths in fingerpicking, songwriting, and helping students understand how the different elements of a song work together. His lessons can include technique, chords, rhythm, melody, improvisation, arranging, composition, and creative exploration. Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to expand an existing skill set, Skyler adapts his instruction to the student's experience, interests, learning style, and musical ambitions.

As a songwriter and recording musician, Skyler understands the creative process from the earliest musical idea through arrangement and production. On the track "Epilogue" by Alterum, featuring Skyler Wisse, he wrote and recorded all of the guitar parts, created the song's structure, and contributed to the sound design and drums. On "Hemp Sack" by Griffen Dykstra, featuring Skyler Wisse, he wrote the lyrics, melody, guitar riff, chords, and guitar solo, and recorded the instrumental material he composed.

Skyler earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience. His academic background complements his teaching experience by giving him additional insight into learning, motivation, communication, and the different ways students process new information.

Skyler's goal is to create lessons that are encouraging, practical, and creatively rewarding. He helps students make steady progress while developing the independence and confidence to play, write, and explore music on their own.
