Manuel

Originally from the Oregon coast and raised in Southern California, Manuel developed his musical voice within the Southern California music scene before returning to the Pacific Northwest. His music blends alternative rock and acoustic singer-songwriter traditions, with influences ranging from Foo Fighters and Audioslave to Elliott Smith and Edwin McCain.

Performing under the name Manuel Bair, he released his full-length debut album, Living Proof, in 2018. The eight-song collection chronicles his first decade as a songwriter and explores themes of love, loss, resilience, and renewal.

Manuel wrote the lyrics throughout the album, performed lead vocals, and played both acoustic and electric rhythm guitar. The project was recorded in Bali, Los Angeles, and Central Oregon with producer Deane Ogden and an accomplished group of instrumentalists.

As an instructor, Manuel draws upon his experience as a songwriter, recording artist, and live performer to help students understand not only how music works, but how to make it their own.

He enjoys helping students develop their guitar or ukulele skills, strengthen their singing, write original songs, and grow more confident expressing themselves through music.

His lessons balance practical technique with creativity, humor, and encouragement. Whether a student wants to accompany themselves while singing, improve their rhythm, explore songwriting, or simply learn favorite songs, Manuel creates an engaging environment in which progress feels rewarding and personal.

For Manuel, music is more than a collection of notes and chords—it is a way to tell stories, process experiences, and connect with other people. His goal is to help every student discover that same creative possibility in their own playing.
