Jenna

Jenna earned her Bachelor of Music Arts in Violin Performance from DePauw University and a Master of Music in Orchestral Career Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno. With more than 25 years of experience playing the violin, she brings a deep understanding of string technique, musicianship, and orchestral performance to every lesson.

Jenna has taught violin, viola, and piano since 2011, working with students of different ages, experience levels, and learning styles. While serving as a violin instructor at Brookfield Academy, she received firsthand training in the Suzuki Method and helped expand the school's string program into a full orchestra.

Through her school and private teaching, Jenna has helped prepare students to participate in youth orchestras, music camps, festivals, and public performances. She enjoys helping beginners establish strong fundamentals while guiding more experienced students toward greater technical control, musical independence, and expressive playing.

Jenna recognizes that every student learns differently. She adapts her instruction to the individual while providing the structure and consistency students need to make meaningful progress.

Her lessons combine technique, careful listening, music reading, theory, and expressive musicianship. She introduces new concepts in manageable steps and incorporates engaging warm-ups, musical games, and repertoire selected around each student's interests and goals.

The Suzuki Method also informs her teaching, particularly its emphasis on listening, repetition, strong fundamentals, and steady skill-building. Her friendly and patient approach helps students feel supported while encouraging them to develop excellent musical habits.

Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time, preparing to join an orchestra, or working toward a more advanced musical goal, Jenna helps make the process clear, rewarding, and enjoyable.

Alongside her teaching, Jenna remains an active performer. Her professional experience includes performing with regional ensembles such as the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, Reno Chamber Orchestra, and Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra. She also performs for weddings and other special events around the Lake Tahoe region.

Her combination of professional performance experience and dedicated teaching gives students a practical understanding of how technique, careful listening, preparation, and collaboration come together in real musical settings.
