    Education and Musical Background

Chuck holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music History and a Master of Music from the University of Florida. His broad musical background extends well beyond the mechanics of playing an instrument, allowing him to help students understand how technique, theory, rhythm, harmony, musical style, and expression work together.

More Than 25 Years of Teaching Experience

Chuck has been part of the music-teaching community for more than 25 years. During that time, he has worked with students at different ages, experience levels, and stages of musical development.

His lessons are organized, thoughtful, and designed to create steady progress. Rather than rushing students from one song to the next, Chuck helps them develop the fundamental skills and musical understanding that make future learning easier and more rewarding.

Beginners benefit from his patient explanations and structured guidance, while continuing students can deepen their technique, theoretical knowledge, and confidence as musicians.

    Chuck's Teaching Approach

Chuck believes that strong musicianship grows through a combination of clear instruction, consistent practice, careful listening, and genuine curiosity.

    His lessons may include:

    Healthy and efficient playing technique
    Rhythm, timing, and coordination
    Chords, scales, and musical patterns
    Music reading and theory
    Listening and musical awareness
    Understanding how songs are constructed
Applying new skills to real music
Building confidence through steady, achievable progress

Chuck adapts his instruction to the individual student rather than relying on a single rigid method. He works to understand what each student wants to accomplish and helps create a practical path toward those goals.

Whether a student wants to learn favorite songs, build a strong musical foundation, return to an instrument after time away, or gain a deeper understanding of music, Chuck offers patient and knowledgeable guidance.

    A Well-Rounded Musician

In addition to his work as an educator, Chuck has performed with several live musical acts over the years. That experience gives him an important practical perspective: music is not simply something to study—it is something to listen to, interpret, communicate, and enjoy.

As a pianist, guitarist, and ukulele instructor, Chuck can help students recognize the musical relationships shared by different instruments. His academic background in music history also gives him a broad view of how musical ideas, traditions, and styles have developed and influenced one another.

This combination of scholarship, performance experience, and long-term teaching makes Chuck an excellent fit for students who want to understand not only what to play, but why the music works.
